CBS Pulls Rihanna From Their Pre-Game Show

Recently CBS sports announced that a rendition of Rihanna's song “Run This Town” featuring Jay-Z would be scheduled to play every Thursday on Thursday Night Football for the rest of the season, but was pulled last week in recent events.

Last week CBS pulled the song from the segment because of the Ray Rice domestic violence scandal and Rihanna being a victim of domestic violence herself. Ray Rice recently suffered a two-game suspension from the NFL but now the NFL has suspended Ray Rice indefinitely after footage was released of Rice knocking out his previous fiancée Janay Palmer in an elevator of an Atlantic City hotel.

CBS Sports pulled Rihanna’s rendition of “Run This Town” as they said it didn’t fit the serious tone of their hour-long pregame show. The first 30 minutes of the pre-game show was focused on Ray Rice’s indefinite suspension and a plea from James Brown to stop domestic violence.

Rihanna being a victim of domestic violence herself back in 2009 slammed CBS for pulling her song; this is what she had to say to her 37 million followers:

Rihanna's managemnt Roc Nation told Speakeasy that they revoked CBS' license to use the tune for Thursday Night Football: “Due to the misuse and misrepresentation of Rihanna’s name and participation in connection to CBS’ ‘Thursday Night Football,’ CBS was not allowed to license and utilize the song ‘Run This Town.’  Roc Nation made the decision to not grant the song’s usage.”
